Current Risk Assessment - 2011

Hazard Definition

Group of people who are at risk

Assessment & Existing Control

Adequately Controlled

Turning off of Seven Mile Lane and entering the site

Pedestrians and all other road users

Extreme caution when turning into site entrance as road is used by all sorts of traffic, including H.G.V’s.

Recommend arrive from Wrotham end (A20) and turn right into entrance. When leaving site, turn left.  When driving on and through the site, recommended speed limit of 10MPH.


Parking

All users of the site and vehicles

Congested entrance area leading to site car park.

Danger of vehicle accident with third party or pedestrians,  recommend all vehicles reverse into parking places


Moving equipment on site

All users of site

As no vehicle is to be used off of the road, all equipment is to be carried physically.  Users to wear suitable footwear and be aware of slips, trips and fall hazards.

Manual handling requirements to be used and follow regulations


Walking on site

All site users

Wear suitable footwear and watch where they are going to avoid slips, trips, and hazards on uneven ground


Fire

Camping areas

All users of the site

Fires to be only lit in approved areas and under adult supervision. Have fire buckets(s) readily available. If fire occurs and is not controllable all personnel to go to a muster area

(around the flag pole) and emergency service called


Chopping/ sawing wood

Person conducting the task and spectators

No live trees to be cut down.

Use designated area only ( by the camp fire area).  All young people to be under adult supervision at all times and training given when required.

Only correct and safe saws and axes to be used.  Person conducting the task to be at least two arm lengths from any other person.  The task person should wear suitable footwear, trousers, gloves and goggles.  They should do the task only in short bursts and stop if feeling tired.


Site Environment

All users of the site

Flora & Fauna:-

Mushrooms/fungi, berries, snakes.  All adults to be vigilant at all times and be familiar with the correct actions (ie first aid) to take action in the event of an incident.

Tree house:- all users to be supervised by an adult at all times.  Site boundary:- to be strictly adhered to at all times.


Housekeeping

All users of the site

All users to be responsible for keeping site clean and tidy to avoid potential hazards to other users
