Thank you for joining us on the pre-event
18th May 2024
It was great to see everyone at pre-event 2 at the beginning of the month, at Lower Grange Farm! We were impressed by how much everyone had grown since October, and are really looking forward to the trip in just 72 days! We’ve got a few notes from the pre-event, and a few updates to share while we’re emailing.
What’s in the bag? – We handed out merchandise just before we went home on Sunday – we hope you like it! On your holdall, there was a packing list, which came from the registration portal, so had everything that you ordered on it – we packed and checked all the bags, so everything should be in there!
Also, in the bag you’d have found three badges; one Kandersteg / UK Scouts Partnership badge and two Kandersteg ’24 Contingent Badges. The Kandersteg / UK badge goes on the right sleeve of uniform shirts, underneath any Group/District/County badges. The Contingent Badge is an occasional badge and should be worn above the left chest pocket – it can stay there for up to three months after we return.
Union Flag badges – When travelling abroad with Scouts, and indefinitely on your return, you are entitled to wear a Union Flag badge on your right chest. We know that some members of the contingent already have these, though know that not everyone does, so are going to be placing an order for these. Please use the link at the bottom of this email to let us know if you do already have one, or if you need one (so we don’t under/over-order).
Media from pre-event 2 – Did you spot our updates on Facebook and Instagram? As we’re aiming to do on the main event, we posted on social media, and also started our News and Blogs page on the website. If you don’t already, follow us on Facebook (Malling Scouts) and Instagram (@mallingscouts) to keep up with our updates.
Explorers and Adult Volunteers can still submit their own snaps from the pre-event! Even if we don’t use them immediately, we’ll store them so we can use them later down the line. We shared the link to upload files on the pre-event on WhatsApp.
What’s next?
Dates for the diary – Make sure you’ve got Tuesday 2 July in your diary for our Families meeting at Lower Grange Farm! We’ll share more details nearer to the time.
Payment deadline – 31 May is the final payment deadline for everyone on the trip. You should have paid up and have a £0 balance remaining by this date. Later on this week, we’ll generate personalised emails to anyone with a remaining balance. Please make sure to pay this as soon as possible, no later than 31 May.
Upcoming – We’ll be sharing more updates in the run-up to the event, including a few small additions to the kit list (based on feedback from the pre-events), more guidance on packing to make sure everything goes in your holdall(!), and a little more about how we’ll work in Kandersteg. Ahead of the families meeting, we’ll also invite questions, so that we can make sure any generic questions are answered ahead of the trip.
If you have any specific questions or concerns, please get in touch with us using the inbox.
Many thanks,
Kandersteg '24 Team
