What a night at The Malling Scout Oscars!
27th September 2011
On Saturday 24th September, Malling District Scouts held their AGM and awards night, this year themed as The Oscars.
There was a small matter of business, before we moved forward the lights sparkled upon some very well deserved recipients.
Below are a small selection of pictures, with more to follow very soon!
District Development Day
17th September 2011
Many thanks to those who came along and took part in our District Development Day run for us by Sarah and Chris from the Regional Development Team.
A fun and interactive day was had by all while we pondered over what really matters to us all in our Scouting and in the District.
Feedback will be given in a variety of ways via sectional, GSL and team meetings and via the website but in the meantime for those of you who attended please discuss in your group leadership meetings and any let me have any further ideas you may have.
Elaine
Appointment of the District Commissioner
13th February 2011
Below is the announcement from Kelvin Holford, County Commissioner, with regards to the appointment of the new District Commissioner for Malling District.
I am pleased to announce that Elaine Greenwood has accepted the role of District Commissioner for Malling District effective from 1st March 2011.
I would like to thank Peter Nicholls for his many years of service as District Commissioner and for holding the fort past his term while I concluded the appointment of Elaine. Peter is already in discussion with Elaine regarding handovers and continuing support which again I would like to thank him for.
Elaine has already made her first appointment of Ken Sharp as Deputy District Commissioner and I think you would agree this is the foundation of a very strong District team.
Elaine and Ken will be spending the next few months meeting GSLs, ADCs and generally getting to know people. Elaine is organising a phased handover at Blacklands as she is currently working on some major projects with the Group.
When initial visits are complete Elaine and Ken will confirm the District team, and the intention is to hold a District Development Day to consult as widely as possible and to take as many views and suggestions into account for the future of the District.
Elaine hopes the new team including herself will be fully in post in September.
In the meantime please send all NAN forms to Ken Sharp and for CRB’s or Child Protection issues please liaise with Peter Nicholls.
I am sure we all wish them well in their new Scouting roles and will give them our support through this initial transition.
