Ightham descends on London!
26th April 2010
On Tuesday 6th of April, 1st Ightham Scouts, Quintain Explorers and Quintain Young Explorers went on a trip to London for the day. There were roughly 25 of us!
We made our way to London by train and then headed to the Houses of Parliament. We had to be in very smart uniform. We had a tour around the Houses of Parliament and we visited the House of Lords, and the House of Commons. It was very interesting and everywhere was gold! For lunch we went to Mc Donald’s which was very crowded! While we were walking, we caught glimpses of Big Ben, and every one took pictures of everywhere we went…
Finally we walked to 10 Downing Street, we were all quite tired from walking around a lot, and we took many pictures of us standing beside the number 10 door. It was one of the shiniest doors you could ever see! We were not able to go in, but we still enjoyed talking to the police man who stood in front of the door. On the way back to the train station we visited Buckingham Palace, and had an ice cream.

Stephen Young
16th February 2010
Yesterday afternoon Stephen was killed by an avalanche in the Scottish Highlands. He was on a Kent Scout led climbing expedition when the accident happened.Stephen had been in the movement since he was 6 years old passing through all the sections from Beavers to Explorers, where reaching his 18th birthday last year he became a Network Scout and was helping Craig develop this section. He was also helping run the Scouts at Ightham as well as being a young person representative on both the District and County Executive Committees
He will sadly be missed by us all and we ask that we give our thoughts and support to Borough Green and Ightham Groups and especially to his mum Judy (who was also on the expedition) during these difficult times.
With sympathy,
Malling District Scouts
