Scout Activity Week - Garden Teas
13th June 2013
Many thanks to everyone who helped at two Open Gardens in East Malling as part of the National Garden Scheme, on Sunday – you were fantastic!
We received the following letter below from Elaine Gordon thanking us all.
||"I just wanted to thank you and the scouts on behalf of the garden 'ladies' for the magnificent way in which you kept people supplied with tea, coffee and cakes in both venues yesterday.
People come round the gardens in part to satisfy their curiosity as well as look and learn. But they also come for the afternoon out and a good cup of tea at the end of it. We could not have delivered on that last part without the help of the scouts and knowing that we could rely on you all made the afternoon so much easier for us.
Katherine down at the church was a real star - spending the first part of the afternoon on tickets and then the rest of it with her hands in soapy water washing up!
Mary Ann told me that although it became rather frantic up at the barn at one stage you all coped really well and there were no massively long queues, which considering that we had more than 500 visitors to the gardens all of whom probably wanted tea at some point is a fantastic achievement!
Thank you again: the Scouts' work was an integral part to the success of the day."
This was a really great Community Week event - congratulations to everyone involved.
